We will be hosting a one day educational seminar on May 14, 2012, 09:00 - 4:00pm, at the Silverdale Beach Hotel. The Mini Eds. have been a great resource for IAFF locals eager for union leadership training and are the brainchild of IAFF 7th district VP Ricky Walsh. The classes are taught by 7th District Field Reps and follow the same curriculum taught at the Affiliate Leadership Training Summit.
The courses taught that day are:
-
Management Rights vs. Employee Rights
-
Union Officer in Discipline
-
Strategic Planning
This seminar is open to all IAFF locals. With that said, any Local 2819 member - be it officer, shift representative, or member-at-large - is encouraged to attend.
2819 members may RSVP by contacting Treasurer Thornton.
Outside IAFF members may RSVP through Ricky Walsh.
See you there.

Every year, the IAFF hosts the Affiliate Leadership Training Summit for union leaders in the IAFF. ALTS, as its commonly referred, provides a variety of training workshops over a three day period for those members willing to sacrifice much of their personal life while they serve as union officers. Holding management to task so to speak , they protect our profession, our individual jobs, and all the gains previous officers attained while negotiating on our behalf.
Currently, IAFF Local 2819 has sent four officers to ALTS being held in Orlando, Florida. They are Poulsbo AVP Trevor Holmberg, NKFR VP Steve Murray, CKFR VP Ronny Smith, and CKFR AVP Terry Fassett.

They are here! The new challenge coins arrived and they are awesome. We changed the metal to brass from the traditional copper-nickle. Saint Florian is on one side with a new tri-colored dyed IAFF 2819 logo on the back. They are $15 each and will be going fast. We sold five of the original fifty in the first few minutes. As always, Owen is your point of contact. For non-2819 members, email him at info@iaff2819.org.

You read correctly. Two years have passed since they organized and 20 months since negotiations began, but the CK negotiating team held strong against Seattle based (and a litttle on the anti-labor side) law firm, Summitt Law, who maintained the lead position for the CKFR management side. Congratulations Brothers and Sisters!
